This calculator models a single-batch workflow where all substrate blocks are inoculated and fruited together. For staggered or continuous production systems, calculations would differ.
The tent layouts shown are approximations to give you a general idea. They are not optimized nor recommended placements.
Your chamber needs to fit all your substrate blocks with room for air circulation. Each block needs space on at least one face for mushrooms to fruit.
Mushrooms release CO2 as they grow and need fresh oxygen. We recommend 6-8 complete air exchanges per hour to keep CO2 levels low and provide adequate oxygen.
Note: Fans lose 50-70% of their rated airflow due to ducting resistance, so we size the fan 2.5× larger than the target CFM.
When fresh air exits your chamber, it carries away moisture. We need to calculate how much water is lost and replace it with the fogger.
Psychrometric data: At typical growing temperatures (18-21°C / 65-70°F):
We size the fogger so it runs at most 50% duty cycle, extending disc life and providing headroom for humid days.
